This website was developed for students, staff and faculty of the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology. This site is neither comprehensive nor exhaustive; rather it is a selection of materials that we think are useful, particularly for beginning GIS users. However, we hope that it may a useful resource for a wider audience of (macro-)ecologists, (conservation) biologists and others with related interests.
There are four main parts to this site
Theory - General topics such as georeferencing, map projections, and file types;
Courses - Tutorials to learn specific programs (e.g., ArcView); Background reading on, e.g., map projections and georeferencing;
Data - Links to commonly used data sources. By theme (e.g. climate), and region (e.g. California);
Software - Which software, where do I get it?
There is also a page about ecological niche modeling.
